After the Moles tough FA Cup encounter on Saturday against Cray Wanderers where we played with 10 men for an hour, 5 players were rested...

Saturdays line-up for this tricky 1st round of the Southern Combination Cup against Camberley, who the Moles recently beat 2-1 at Krooner Park in the league. Tuesday was the 2nd meeting in 4 this season, as they play again at Krooner Park in the CCL Cup and then obviously the league fixture at Walton Road.

As always, the meetings between Molesey and Camberley are feisty affairs however, we were all wondering what the fuss was about as the Moles completely dominated the 1st half with excellent build up play however, they seemed to lack the cutting edge in front of goal when chances were created and missed, but kept the Camberley 'keeper the busier of the two 'keepers as half time loomed.

Coming out second half at 0-0 level pegging, the Moles started slowly and with Camberley's customary long ball tactics got them more into the game, but with little effect and any chances created were off target until a hopeful long ball into the Moles penalty area, the Moles 'keeper mistake lead the ball at the feet of Bunyan who had the easy task of prodding the ball into an empty net.

Conceding seemed to inject the Moles into life and increased the tempo thus started to dominate possession again and creating chances, which caused the Camberley 'keeper to make some good saves keeping the Moles at bay.

When we all wondering where all the combative nature of the game went, we weren't disappointed as some ''tackles'' by both teams kept into the game with Camberley holding onto their goal lead and looked to see the game out, whilst Molesey now pushing forward causing Camberley problems having much success down the right flank. So it was no surprise that a good passing move down the right and cross to the far post saw McShane drill the ball in the far corner with Camberley's keeper's hand was not strong enough to keep it out.

Molesey now dominate and driving for the winner with Camberley on the back foot could not get that elusive winner as the final whistle blew.

Extra time:

Within a couple of minutes into extra time with Moles in a comfortable situation, a firm back pass to the Molesey 'keeper was miscontrolled where the Camberley forward got the ball and in an effort to regain the ball, the Moles 'keeper fouled the striker so the customary red card was issued by the referee leading to the Moles centre back replacing him. This meant for 28 minutes the Moles were down to 10 men for the second game in succession.

Being down to 10 did not deter the Moles as they continued to have the majority of possession however, Camberley also played their bit of pressure with their long ball tactic creating some half chances but rarely was the deputised 'keeper tested.

As the game fizzled out, penalties would decide the result in which the Moles won 3-2.

The Moles 2nd round opponents in the Southern Combination Cup is Chertsey at Walton Road.

Next up for Molesey is a difficult game against Westfield this Saturday 6 September at Walton Road - Kick off 3pm
