Last Saturday Molesey completed their 4th pre-season fixture against a strong and lively Ryman outfit Merstham at Walton Xcel 3G

A good competative game of football, giving a decent work-out for both clubs as this season fast apptoaches.

With some Molesey players missing due to holiday, injury and non-availablility, it was an excellent opportunity for the management to look at new players before the season commences.

On a hot day the tempo was fierce for the first 20 minutes with both teams playing some delightful football, and with chances going a-begging from both teams, it was Mertsham who struck first from a worldy edge of the box free kick which left the Molesey keeper stranded and imobilised to watch the ball fly into the net.

It was pretty tight from thereon, when a fine passing move and wall pass on the edge of the box allowed the Molesey midfielder get in behind the Merstham defence to slot the ball pass the advancing keeper to bring the score level 1-1.

With the game drawing towards half time, a fine diagonal ball found the pacey Merstham wideman who got in behind the Molesey defence to square the ball back for a simple poke home to make it 2-1 at half time.

The inevitable changes for the second half were made by both teams which started well for The Moles having two clear cut chances to equal the score, the latter chance which was cleared, allowed Merstham to break away where the through ball was tucked away nicely over the advancing Molesey keeper to make it 3-1 with Molesey defence stepping up claiming offside.

There were more half chances for both teams as the game fizzled out, with both teams reeping some reward from the work out.

Next game up for the Moles is this Saturday away at the picturesque Arundel FC opposite Arubdel Castle - Kick off 3pm

Again, thank you for your coninued support and look forward to seeing you all at Arundel.
