Supporters bared a rain soaked Bank Holiday, to watch the Moles who entertained Mole Valley at Walton Road

And that is exactly what they did especially with their first half performance, restricting a hard working Valley side to only a few half chances with the Moles keeper rarely troubled..

The Moles scintillating football was a joy to watch causing the visitors problems from the outset, and with cumulative chances created and missed early on, it was no surprise that the Moles were 2 up in the first 20 minutes, the first after excellent move finished off by the energetic Tom Windsor strike from the edge of the box.

The second goal was especially good after excellent build up play, the ball worked itself wide to Charles, who after good wing work, drilled in low cross for youngster Linegar, whose good movement created himself space to tap home from close range.

Further Moles chances went a begging, where had those chances been taken, it could have realistically been 5-0 going into half time for the Moles, but it wasn't to be.

Half time: Molesey 2 Mole Valley 0

Coming out 2-0 down with a change of personnel and system, allowed the Valley to get more into the game by starting to dominate the early stages of the second half, where upon poor defensive work allowed a life line for the Valley when White turned and scored from the respective mistake. This seemed to rejuvenate the Moles and within 5 minutes, after good build up play again, the ball landed at McShane's feet who from 20 yards drilled the ball into the far corner to give the Moles a cushion 2 goal lead.

However, credit must go to the Valley who never gave up and sat back making a real go of things. Both teams had good possession with half chances and both having clearances off the line. Nevertheless, the Moles had a great chance to wrap the game up when Chalke, after being set up, struck his shot with his weaker left foot straight at the Valley keeper. The Moles rue this missed chance as another defensive mistake allowed Jackson to score with a fine strike making it 3-2 thus creating a nervous 15 minutes for the Moles faithful, in which at the last grasp, a 30 yard free kick from Jackson was tipped over by the Moles keeper. Thereafter more pressure from 2 Valley corners passed which then saw the Moles see the game out for their 6th consecutive win.

Next up for Molesey is the exciting, but nonetheless a difficult task for the lads in the FA Cup against higher opposition and Ryman Div. 1 North outfit Cray Wanderers who ply their trade at Bromley FC this Saturday 30 August 20414 - Kick off 3pm.
