So the 1st weekend of the new season and the Moles start with 3 points.
It was a very wet Saturday, with Bagshot being the 1st visitors to enjoy the new clubhouse and changing rooms. There’s still some more work to be be completed, with new turnstiles to be constructed where the soon to be demolished pavilion currently sits.
All Ross’s hard work on the pitch during the closed season paid off, as the playing surface held up well, considering how much rain had fallen and still was.
It didn’t take long for Molesey to take the lead with a spectacular volley from Monty Everett.
It was 1-0 at half time but only down to some great goal keeping from Kevin Weller in the Molesey goal.
Bagshot came out looking for an equalizer but was held at bay by a resolute Molesey back line and some more fine saves from Kevin.
Molesey had chances in the 2nd half that would have killed the game off but were the happiest of the 2 teams when the ref blew the final whistle.
The Molesey man of the match was rightfully awarded to Jake Palm.
3 points and a clean sheet was the perfect way to start the season, with only the weather not reading the script.
We now look ahead to Tuesday night when Brook House are the visitors to Walton Road, kick off 7.45.
