Molesey 1 v 1 Everley and California

This match was always going to be a tight match and so it proved to be. With Molesey sitting in Second place and Everley in Third place both sides came into this game knowing the importance that a win could have for the remainder of the Season.
The game kicked off with Molesey on the ascendance and after only five minutes found themselves 1-0 up. Some fine play down the Molesey left saw the ball come to Man of the Match, Deji Alabi, to slot the ball home and go on a celebratory run down the wing past all the supporters.
The rest of the first half was still cagey and with very little in the way of clear cut chances. Those that came were mainly for Molesey and a little bit more composure could have seen Molesey two or three goals to the good.

The second half saw Everley come more into the game and if it wasn’t for some solid defending and some good saves by Wheller, Everley would have scored a couple themselves.
The game was into injury time when Everley finally broke the Molesey supporters hearts when the ball was played down the right and as the Everley player was challenged, he struck the ball that took a deflection that took it over the outstretched arm of Wheller and under the Molesey crossbar to equalize in the last seconds of the match. Seconds later and the Referee blew his final whistle.
In the Clubhouse afterwards there was talk of a possible handball in the build-up to the equalizer but in the end it was another good performance by the Molesey team who are growing in confidence with each other and a good team ethic. This will lay the foundations for the long road ahead and harder games still to come!
