Molesey 4 v 1 Bedfont

Peter Doherty and his exciting Molesey team were very keen to get a valuable 3 points today so that the team can maintain the pressure on those teams above them.
Early pressure from both sides saw chances for both teams, a well struck shot went just wide for Everett and a sharp chance for Bedfont through Bell saw Wheeler pull off a fine save to keep the scores level.
The first goal came the way of Molesey when Everett was put clear of a static Bedfont defense and he simply raced away and slotted the ball through the Bedfont Keepers legs.
One nil up and the crowd started to see Molesey exert some sustained pressure that resulted in two more first half goals. The first came in the 24th minute when Everett ran across goal and then hit a shot back towards the goalkeeper only to see it nestle into the back of the net.
The third was converted in the 44th minute when the ball was delivered into the penalty area for Aleman to gratefully ram the ball home. £ nil to the good at half time but the Molesey faithful are well aware game aren’t one in the first half so there was no complacency.

The second half saw much end to end football but with no finishing product. Some way into the half it was 4 – 0 to Molesey when Blanchard was on hand to score in the opposite corner with a decent shot across goal.
The scoring wouldn’t finish then as Bedfont got a one back when in the 85th minute Dunn followed up a Free Kick that had been spilled by Wheeler to score the goal they had been searching for all game!
A valuable 3 points but more importantly it was a competent display by Peter Doherty’s young squad of players which is much more pleasing!
