Molesey away at Oxley Jets Match Report

With the 1st real wet weekend of the season with us, Molesey had 1 of their longest away trips of the season to Oxley Jets.
After the hour and 40 odd minuet journey we arrived in south Watford to be greeted with a pitch that looked almost perfect considering the amount of rain that had fallen in the last couple of days.
The team was mostly unchanged from last week with just Saad missing and Deji returning from injury on the bench.
The 1st half started very cagey with both teams having a number of half chances in the 1st 15 minutes.
The game and result could have been very different if when Monty took advantage of an on rushing Oxley keeper missed timed clearance, from Alex’s trough ball to tap into an empty net but was wrongly called back to an offside call.
The Jets should have gone 1 up minutes later when their right winger manged to put the ball wide and high at the far post when he was picked out by a perfect cross from the left.
The game then slowly deteriorated mainly due to some poor calls by all 3 officials.
The next major call for the man in the middle was when another long ball had the Oxley Keeper rushing out of his goal to attempt a high-level scissor kick that was poorly missed timed and court Max on the back. Resulting in just a yellow card..
HT 0-0
Molesey started the 2nd half brighter unlike the weather with the rain blowing onto the Molesey backs.
Oxley took the lead with a cross from the left hand side, which saw the right winger with enough time to bring the ball down and smash the ball past Kevin out stretched arm.
Molesey had 2 good chances to equalize,
1 when from a corner on the left-hand side, resulted in a header smashed against the bar, the 2nd was when Oxley struggle to clear the ball and Molesey struggled to have a clear shot on goal.
The officials continued to make the strangest of calls, which also matched Molesey’s performance, poor.
On a positive note, the hospitality given by Oxley was the best we have seen all season and look forward to replicating at Walton Road, when the league releases the 2nd half of the seasons fixtures.
Onto the next game, which sees us travel back into Middlesex when we take on Langley in the league this Wednesday 25th October at the home of Uxbridge FC.
