Ben's Cove match report

Molesey 9 v 1 COVE

This Home League match was played on a miserable and cold Tuesday night. Those supporters who ventured down to Walton Road were treated to a sparkling game of football in which Molesey racked up 9 goals to one by Cove.

Molesey started the game the quickest and against a very lacklustre Cove side they were 2 goals up inside the first 15 minutes.
Williams scored the first when in the 5th minute the ball was delivered from the midfield and he was on hand to finish the move. Ten minutes later and a great foraging run from midfield saw Haidous break into the penalty area and slide the ball past Upward in the Cove goal to put Molesey two nil up.
The next half hour saw Molesey put cove under much pressure and a very tired and disjointed Cove side conceded another 2 goals.
On the 35th minute the ball rebounded off the Cove goal only for the rebound to be picked up by Goor who hit a firm strike past Upward for the third for Molesey.
A minute before half-time and Cove’s R.Stepney was given a Straight Red for a horrendously bad two-footed challenge which was well over the ball.

Molesey were coasting at half-time and the talk in the clubhouse was how many were Molesey going to get as Cove had no answer for the upbeat Molesey side.
Five minutes into the second half and Cove were struggling with ten men as Molesey scored there fourth with a near post finish.
Somehow Cove raised a little fight as in the 53rd minute they got a goal back when Denber scored from a well taken Free Kick.
This possible fight back was short lived as in the next 30 minutes Molesey had scored another four goals.
On the 54th minute Williams had a tap in and in the 75th a Haidous cross deceived the keeper to make it six. Haidous then put Molesey in seventh heaven with a neat finish past Upward.
To round the evening off in the 82nd minute a lovely flowing move saw another tap in to make it a superb 9-1 victory to Molesey and an opportunity to make the remaining Christmas Festivities more enjoyable!

I hope you all have a great New Year and let us all hope that Molesey can have a successful 2023 on the pitch and with a newly built Clubhouse!
