MOLESEY FC 1-1 HILLINGDON BOROUGH
(Molesey FC win 3-0 on Penalties)
A late kick off due to the Hillingdon Borough Chairman being delayed and carrying the Team Kit, did not deter the Molesey boys from delivering on Saturday afternoon in the heat at Walton Road.
The first half saw a lot of huffing and puffing and very little action as both sides seemed tired after what seems like a long season.
In the 28th minute the first clear chance came for Hillingdon when Pillonetto hit a lovely strike that hit the bar and rebounded to safety.
The second half was seconds old when Hillingdon broke up field for the lively DeFreitas to take his chance well. To their credit the Molesey boys , although tired, drove forward and equalised when O’Connor scored when he latched onto a loose ball in the Hillingdon defence.
Molesey wrestled to gain the initiative but both sides failed to create any real goal scoring chances and as the final whistle went the thought of Penalties came to reality to decide this Quarter Final.
Wheeler became the star man as he calmed all the Molesey supporters as he pulled off save after save and Hillingdon failed to score any of there penalties whilst Molesey scored three and missed one resulting in a 3-0 victory on Penalties for the Mighty Moles!
Although the Team missed out on the League Play-offs they still have some silver ware to play for. Please keep your eyes peeled for details of the semi final date, venue and opposition and come along and support the lads.
Come on you Moles!
