Molesey FC 2 v 1 London Samurai Rovers
With games between these two sides often very good close games there was no reason to think this game would be any different. With Molesey in 6th place and Samurai in 14th and the weather getting more and more windy by the minute everyone in Molesey knew that this was a must win game if Molesey FC wanted to keep the hopes of a play-off position within their grasp.
The game kicked off with Molesey attacking the Walton Road end and within 10 minutes they were a goal up. Haidious delivered a Free kick from the left and it fell nicely for McLean to volley home with his right foot.
Molesey carried on applying pressure and had 2 or 3 good chances but sadly they could not convert them into much needed goals.
On 30 minutes the inevitable happened when Samurai delivered the ball into the Molesey Penalty area and it was headed home by the dangerous Hashiz to level the scores.
It remained level until halftime when the talk amongst the Molesey Supporters was how do we keep the dangerous Hashiz quiet as every time he touched the ball he looked dangerous.
The second half saw much the same as the first with both sides applying pressure and both defences standing firm. In the 50th minute, a ball down the Molesey right hand side was crossed into the penalty area where it was missed by the Samurai defence for Haidious to drive it home past Barreto in the Samurai goal to put Molesey deservedly in the lead.
Molesey held firm against some sustained pressure and in the 60th minute Samurai were awarded a penalty. Up stood Max Wilson to be the hero of the match for Molesey as he pulled off a superb save, that his Grandfather, ex-Arsenal legend goalkeeper, Bob Wilson, would have been proud of.
In the last few minutes of the game with Samurai pushing forward chances fell to Haidious and Heravi but their shoots went narrowly past the Upright. When the whistle went there was a great sigh of relief as everyone realised we had gained another valuable 3 points and continued our superb home form. With only one home game left this season, that against Amersham, we need to concentrate all our efforts of producing this home form away from Walton Road.
Come on you Moles!
