After Molesey kicked off the first ten minutes were very even with no clear cut chances for either side. The first opportunity fell to the Moles on 12 minutes when Joe Nwoko shot just wide. The next Molesey attack was a good run by Ashley Lodge who set up Stafforde Palmer who shot just over.
Molesey continued to attack and in the 15th minute they appealed for a penalty for a trip in the area on Nwoko but it was not clear cut so wasn't given. East Grinstead's first shot came on 17 minutes from Tashi Jay-Kwayie but it was easily saved by Liam Allen.
Molesey continued on the attack and Ashby Charles nearly capitalised on a mistake at the back and Lodge also had a shot blocked. On 20 minutes A. Charles was in on goal again but his left foot shot was just over. On 21 minutes Town's Jay-Kwayie was booked for tugging back Molesey's Sam Charles.
Molesey continued to dominate with Tom Windsor firing just over the bar on 28 minutes. On 30 minutes Captain Craig Lewington was booked following a bad tackle. Totally against the run of play, and after a loose ball in mid-field, Town's Charlie Harris scored with a long range shot into the top right corner. From the re-start Nwoko broke through but shot straight at the keeper.
On 42 minutes, and again after a spell of Molesey pressure, the home side broke and Jay-Kwayie headed in from close range to make it 2-0 at half-time.
After a positive start to the second half by Molesey a fine attack led to Nwoko hitting the post with a low shot on 50 minutes. Then in the next attack Lodge shot straight at the keeper.
On a rare attack Town brought out a fine close-range save by Allen on 55 minutes which kept the score at 2-0. Sam Charles was booked for a foul on Town's Jay-Kwayie. Molesey's forward Stafforde Palmer was replaced by Connor French on 65 minutes and soon after James King became the next player to be booked for tugging an opponent's shirt.
The home side began to get on top at this point and after a short spell of pressure they scored their third goal with a second for Jay-Kwayie on 70 minutes. He was then taken off and replaced by Alex Mulrooney-Skinner. A. Charles became the fourth Molesey player to be booked on 75 minutes for a lunging challenge on Town's Tom Cadman. This was A. Charles' last action as he was then replaced by Dre Grobler.
The game became scrappy towards the end with neither team creating any clear chances.
To sum up Molesey's luck on the day, after a good spell of pressure they hit the bar on 87 minutes when Tom Windsor's shot ricocheted off a defender. After 5 minutes added time there were no more chances for either side and the game finished 3-0 to E.G. Town.
Molesey Man of the Match: Joe Nwoko.
Overall the final score did not fairly reflect Molesey's performance as they had good build-up play and did create a number of chances, including hitting the woodwork twice, but the difference was that the home side were more clinical in their finishing.
