It was a game low on both chances and quality. The Moles certainly had the better of it but their final ball was constantly lacking and both goalkeepers remained largely untroubled all evening.
Ross Chalke and Jake Embery brought routine saves from Ben Hunter and Liam Allen in what were the only two efforts at goal in the first half.
The second half fared little better, with Molesey’s Lekan Osideko firing just wide, and then Elijah Ogunseye just failed to get on the end of Ronny Sobowale’s cut-back.
The Moles will have few better opportunities to end their long winless run, with a presumably out-of-sorts Herne Bay unable to find any rhythm all evening.
However, they nearly won it in stoppage time but their night was summed up by Embery completing missing his header with the goal at his mercy.
With the Moles now officially safe from relegation they go into an action-packed final week of the season with fixtures against:
South Park (a), league – Sat 21st
Staines Lammas (h), Southern Combination Cup – Mon 23rd
Ashford (h), league – Tue 24th
South Park (h), league – Thur 26th
Faversham (h), league – Sat 28th
