Ware 2-2 Molesey

Mark Billett2 Sep 2018 - 14:37

Molesey had a first victory snatched from their grasp with a late goal away at Ware on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Even though The Moles started extremely lethargically, they still went in at the half 2-1 up after a brace from Tayo Oyebola.

Manny Quarshie could of opened the scoring with a header after his lob was partially blocked by the keeper who did well to recovery and thwart our front man. The same player also had a header go fractionally wide.

That was after going a goal down when a mismanaged free kick saw a Ware midfielder break into the box to head down for another to slot home. Ryan Marklew turned the game in our favour with hard work and endeavour matched with guile as he personally took control of the game. He was denied himself by the keeper with a great run and shot which was acrobatically saved.

Our first goal came from an excellent deep free kick from Dylan Cascoe, which caused a defender to tamely head to the edge of the box where Captain Chris Wales dived to head back goal ward with Tayo Oyebola getting the vital touch to guide the ball past the home Keeper in the 32nd minute.

Tayo Oyebola and Molesey’s second came just before half time. A great move started with a through ball from Joshua Adusei being latched onto by Dylan Cascoe, who hit a ferocious drive from the edge of the box which was parried by the keeper but followed up well for Tayo’s third goal in 5 games.

HT: 1-2

Molesey started well in the second half and had a catalog of chances. Tayo Oyebola was denied by another good save by the keeper after being played through one on one by Ryan Marklew. Tayo then couldn’t stretch enough to reach an excellent low cross from Sam Labinjo who was cleverly played in by Joshua Adusei.

Adrian Spence was introduced in the 58th minutes and produced some great hold up play to get us up the pitch. Further chances fell to debutant Elton Gjoni, Joshua Adusei and Adrian Spence with no third goal materialising.

Athan Smith-Joseph and Jamie Howard came on in the 84th and 87th minutes replacing Joshua Adusei and Tayo Oyebola respectively. But in the 88th minute there was heart break when Athan Smith-Joseph lost possession out on our left, enabling their right winger to deliver a deep cross to their midfield to volley in off the far post for the equaliser.

With minutes left both teams could of won it as Ware had a header go just over from in the 6 yard box. Then a goal kick from Sam Johnson-Freeman was headed on by the impressive Adrian Spence for Jamie Howard to beat the last defender who looked to have pulled Howard as he shot past the keeper who got enough on the ball to allowing another Ware defender to clear of the line.

Through the disappointment of being denied victory, again Molesey showed progression to pick up their first point of the campaign. Next up is our FA Cup replay away to Lewes on Wednesday, kick off 7pm.
