Molesey not up to speed on a windy day in Sutton

On a day when only 2 games survived in the Combined Counties Premier league, ours away at Sutton Common Rovers played at Sutton FC on 3G and that of Sheerwater played at Woking FC, is all you needed to know about the conditions the game was played in.
Molesey had a somewhat of a patch work team, starting at the back with debutante Alex Bellingham between the sticks, Ryan Marklew at centre back, U23’s Connor McShane slipping into the left back position and Haluna Masembe moved into the middle, it was only Ryan David who kept his normal place right back in the back 4.
Molesey probably started the brighter, with Danny Campion causing his normal nuisance up top, alongside Adam Roberts and Jerrel Gumbs making up the unfamiliar but forced sight of a Molesey front 3.
On the 27th minute the deadlock was broken when the SCR striker smashed home an unstoppable shot after a tame cross the Molesey defence failed to clear. It was only 3 minutes later that probably sealed the game when another unstoppable, this time a free kick for the edge of the box, gave SCR a 2-0 lead.
If Molesey had any thought of getting back into the game, were all but dashed just before half time, when Alex came out for a cross and was a long way short giving the SCR attacker a simple free header, to make the score 3-0 at the interval.
HT 3-0
Molesey again started the brighter and it was a 66th minute slip in the SCR’s back 4 that presented Jerrel the chance to pull a goal back, which he duly executed. Game on.
The game switched from end to end with Olakeko Osideko be an exact swap for Danny Campoin causing a fresh nuisance up front.
Molesey pushed forward and it was Craig Lewington who found himself 1on1 in front of an every enlarging keeper who managed to get something on Craig’s shot, to keep the score line from closing. It was Lewington again, who had the next chance for Molesey and his goal bound shot obviously took a deflection but strangely was not seen by the officials.
Danny Band gave way for Connor Shannon with 15 to play but it was the wind that had the last major play of the game blowing a couple of the metal advertising boards across a very wet slippery 3G Sutton surface.
