The Cobham pitch should have been applauded for what could have been the last game of the season in mid March.
It was the 12th minute when the 1st chance of the game fell to Danny Campion, who's shot was well over the Cobham bar. Molesey had the majority of the early possession and for most of the game. It was a good run from Benni Gunnlaugarson that resulted in a free kick on the edge of the box. Craig Lewington stepped up and curled his shot over the Cobham wall, only to see the keeper dive to his left and palm away for a corner. It was another impressive passing build up from Molesey that resulted in Luke Elliott heading back across the box for Dre Grobler to offer a soft header, that was easily saved by the Cobham keeper. A rash challenge on Danny that resulted in another free kick 10 yards outside the Cobham box ,which was whizzed in by Craig and Luke’s diving effort was off target. Dre had the last effort of the 1st half with a wayward shot from just outside the box.
The 2nd half started with Ryan Marklew hitting the Cobham post with a powerful header, from what must have been the 10th Lewington corner. It was on the on the 52nd minute when Danny burst into the Cobham box and was sliced down by the Cobham centre back, resulting in a penalty, up stepped Jamie DeGussepi who smashed home the equalising goal. Straight after the goal Craig made the change of Jerrel Gumbs replacing the hard working Dre. Molesey continued to take the upper hand, knocking the ball around well, involving all of the team and using the space that Cobham allowed. In In the 62nd minute, another good run from Benni resulted in another free kick on the edge of the Cobham box. It was Craig and Jamie who again lined up to take the free kick and it was Jamie who curled in a great winning goal. Cobham where reduced to 10 minutes with 10 men after the Cobham left back was sin binned on 78 minutes . Adam Roberts replaced Benni in the 85th minute, what can only be a way of running down the clock. The game finished 2-1 to Molesey but it did feel like an end of season game.
